April gathering video now available
Next gathering: May 4, 7pm, Brew Merchant
The video of the April gathering with Dr. Leanne Van Dyk is now available on our website. This is a wonderful and helpful conversation!
Our May gathering is shaping up nicely. Marlin and I will be focusing on Jesus’s teaching on “loving enemies.” This may Jesus’s most difficult and most unique teaching. It goes beyond, well beyond, the teaching of loving one’s neighbor, a Jewish teaching that precedes Jesus by centuries (Lev 19:18). This is an impossible vision. How can such a teaching be taken seriously? Should it be taken seriously? Is love truly stronger than hate? Valarie Kaur, Sikh activist and speaker, suggests that revolutionary love asks us to see no stranger, but to rather look at the other and say, “You are a part of me that I do not yet know.” There are parts of myself that I do not know or understand. In many ways, I am “other” to myself. These musings are beginning to form the outline of our next gathering. We hope to see you there.
