"Evolving Faith" with Fred Harrell, in one week!
March 9, 7pm, Brew Merchant
We are excited to have our first guest speaker at Still Processing! Fred Harrell is the founding pastor of City Church in San Francisco, which he founded in 1996. Fred’s story is one that many of you will recognize and appreciate. It’s a story of curiosity, courage, fear, change, loss, confusion, and hope. Read about it here. Fred chose to remain open to change, wonder, and love, even when it cost him.
Fred will talk candidly about his journey from a conservative evangelical to whatever he is now! As Fred admits, when he moved to San Francisco to start a church for the Presbyterian Church of America (the conservative Presbyterian denomination), he was entrenched in patriarchy, anti-LGBTQIA ideology/theology, white supremacy, and Christian supremacy. To his great credit, he was willing to reconsider his ideology and theology. He stayed curious. He listened. He let the stories of others change him, even when it was frightening and painful.
Join us next Thursday! Invite friends! I promise you that Fred and I will have a honest conversation about belief, doubt, rejection, pain, love, meaning, and the possibility of the divine.
