"How to Flourish after Religion," March 6, 7pm, Warehouse 6
To a significant degree, Still Processing exists because I and so many of you are wondering how to thrive after religion. And we are lucky to have two experts on this for our next gathering: March 6, 7pm, Warehouse 6.
Daryl and Sara Van Tongeren have not only studied and written about thriving after religion, but they are practicing it. Daryl is the author of Done: How to Thrive After Religion. Sara and Daryl are the authors of The Courage to Suffer: A New Clinical Framework for Life’s Greatest Crises. This is from the Introduction of Done: “Many are looking for rituals, symbols, belonging, broader narratives of meaning, and an engagement with the mystical—features of human life that religion readily provided. As weʼll come to see later in this book, weʼre naturally built to think and behave religiously, and as many collectively move away from traditional religious structures, the pangs of lost faith are real and pressing, and many are left searching for ways to address deep questions and seeking for lasting meaning.”
On March 6, 7pm, at Warehouse 6, Sara, Daryl, and I will unpack this and share about our own journeys away from religion.
Last month’s gathering is now available. Micah and I discussed trauma and race, as well as a bit about how we are each approaching this difficult moment. There’s a lot of good stuff to chew on.
