Journalist Sarah Leach returns to Still Processing, this Thursday, Jan 22!
Next gathering: “Journalist Sarah Leach,” Jan 22, 7pm, Port 393, Holland, MI
Sarah brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on the cultural and political scene of Southwest Michigan. I am more conversant in the national and international scene. Together we’ll talk through what we are seeing and reading, and what we think 2026 is going to look like.
I also plan to bring some fun, some joy, some hope. We need to be together to lift each other up and to try to see reality more clearly. I was listening to James Talarico, Democratic Senate candidate from Texas, and he said this. It reminded of what we are trying to do at Still Processing.
It’s happening here and it’s happening now. Outrage, anger, fear, sadness, rage, resolve, resignation, these are all valid feelings right now. I feel them all at different times. What’s happening is not remotely ok, or normal, or tolerable.
The resistance to ICE that I’m seeing in Minneapolis is incredible. I’m so proud of you Minnesotans! You are giving me so much hope!
If you haven’t seen this guy, then you are in for a treat. He just says the truth, no bullshit.
I’m seriously considering joining the ICE protestors next weekend in Minneapolis. I’ve always wanted to be an outside agitator
I’ll keep you posted. Maybe some of you want to join me.
The resistance in Minneapolis has sparked a fire of hope in me, and I plan to feed that fire by finding ways to stand up to ICE, CBP, and anyone else who would brutalize and terrorize my neighbors. I won’t sit idly by and just watch that happen. As historian Tad Stoermer says, it’s not called community words; it’s called community action.
I feel in bones that I was born to fight, and I’m trying to listen to and respect that feeling, regardless of what it might “cost” me.
I hope to see you on Thursday.
