September gathering (w/ David Myers) video available
We had a wonderful time with Dr. David Myers, discussing his newest work How Do We Know Ourselves?. Dr. Myers is a scholar and a gentleman, and this comes through in our time together. We discussed how he weaves together his faith and his work as a social psychologist. We discuss concepts like the two-track mind (conscious and unconscious), confirmation bias/belief perseverance/motivated reasoning, and micro-friendships. It’s a warm and rich conversation. You can watch it here.
Our next gathering is on October 5 with Dr. Tom Boogaart, emeritus professor of Old Testament at Western Theological Seminary. “Struggling with the Bible” will serve as the frame for our discussion. Dr. Boogaart is a dynamic and creative thinker and interpreter of the Bible. Can we utilize the Bible in a way that brings wisdom and goodness into our lives, instead of judgment and division? Does the Bible have a future, a role to play, in our quest to bring more beauty, love, and peace into the world? We will discuss these questions and more on October 5, 7pm, at the Brew Merchant. We hope to see you there.

What an amazing, interesting and thought-provoking interview with Dr. Myers. If possible, have him return as soon as possible. I would appreciate his insights on LGBTQ+ being a "natural disposition" of humans or ask him (or some other biblical scholar) about why the Bible is so misunderstood about LGBTQ+ activity being an "abomination".
