Still Processing with Jeff Chu, May 2, **Warehouse 6**, 7pm
**Please note the venue change for May 2, with Jeff Chu. We are going to use Warehouse 6, which we used for Kristin Du Mez. Warehouse 6 is located across the railroad tracks (north) from the parking garage on 7th Street in downtown Holland. Here is the address: 136 E. 6th St., Holland, MI 49423. But you should park in the upper level of the 7th St. parking garage.
Invite your friends and family! We have plenty of room now, and Jeff is worth the trouble (I know how hard it is to leave your house, especially at night)!
We want to make sure that we can accommodate everyone who wants to hear from Jeff about his complex relationship with the church and Christianity. Jeff is the author of Does Jesus Really Love Me?: A Gay Christian’s Pilgrimage in Search of God in America. More recently, Jeff wove together the unfinished manuscript of Rachel Held Evans with some of her unpublished essays to create Wholehearted Faith.
I spoke with Jeff last week and we had great conversation about church, Christianity, politics, and more. Jeff’s biography is unique and impressive, with degrees from Princeton, London School of Economics, and Princeton Seminary. He was born and grew up in northern California, and his family has roots in Hong Kong. His family attended Baptist and PCA churches during his childhood. He spent some time away from church after graduate school in England. More recently, he found his way into the Reformed Church in America, where he was finally (after many years of nonsense) ordained on April 6, 2024.
We’ll talk about his tumultuous and beautiful relationship with church and Christianity, his desires for humanity, and more. We will leave plenty of time for questions.
I’ll send a reminder next week! In the meantime, check out this great interview of Jeff by Kate Bowler (You’ll love Kate too, if you don’t know her already!).
