What: Jeff Chu is an honest, thoughtful, and sympathetic voice in the conversation about Christianity and the LGBTQIA+ community. His book, Does Jesus Really Love Me? A Gay Christian’s Pilgrimage in Search of God in America, combines his wonderful abilities as a journalist with his personal struggle to reconcile the Christian faith he inherited with his identity as a gay man. We’ll talk about his disappointment with the church, which exists alongside his desire to continue to be a part of the church. Christianity has been a source of meaning, connection, and love for Jeff, while it has also caused him much pain and torment. Jeff was recently ordained in the Reformed Church in America. This process typically takes about three years. Jeff’s ordination was drawn out for eight years. All of this will be a part of our conversation tonight. I hope you’ll join us.
