What should we do with the Bible?
Discussion session: March 23, 7pm, 1199 Waterwalk Dr., Holland
It’s time to have a discussion about the Bible. What do we do with this diverse collection of ancient texts? Does the Bible help us or hurt us as we attempt to chart a good future for humanity?
Please join us next week Thursday, March 23, 7pm at the Villas of Holland clubhouse, 1199 Waterwalk Dr. in Holland. This will be a comfortable and quiet venue for this critical discussion. I am much more skeptical than Marlin is about the usefulness of the Bible. Marlin is more optimistic, or rather, he is choosing to remain optimistic about its usefulness. He often says that he doesn’t want to throw out the baby with the bathwater. I’m not convinced there is still a baby in that bathwater.
So please come with your thoughts and questions. I suggest that you listen to the following podcast episode featuring Richard Rohr. There is a lot to chew on in this conversation. Rohr wants to salvage the Bible, but he is also very frank about the its problems.
